Society News
It is with great sadness that we have to report the passing of Fred Peskett, one of the four founding members of the Society. His knowledge of all things Festival was second to none, and without Fred's prompting it's doubtful we would have a Festival of Britain Society to keep the spirit of 1951 alive.
In memory of Fred we have set up a 'Memory Page' on the British Heart Foundation website, which can be accessed by clicking HERE
RIP Fred 1936 - 2023
Lots of good stuff coming to a door mat near you. Festival Times has been dispatched a little earlier than usual in case of postal disruption, and to ensure members know about the Spring Get Together.
Articles include 'Recent Sales and Wants', Bathing in Milk, Mary de Saulles and the South Bank Past and Present, etc. If you do not receive your copy please let me know via the contact page on this site.
The Twentieth Century Society are presenting a series of online talks about various Festival related subjects including Naomi Games talking about her Father's work on the Festival Symbol, and Geoffrey Hollis's talk on the Festival Gardens in 1951. You can also catch-up with Geoffrey's recent introductory online talk about the Festival of Britain. A small charge is made for people attending these talks (from the comfort of your own computer) but it is well worth it.
Details of talks and bookings, both catch-up and forthcoming, can be found by clicking HERE
